Seriously lethal offense. Unprecedented, almost. And I love it when people (mostly TU fans) claim we haven't played anybody yet. True. Although WVU isn't gawdawful. However, when you post numbers like those above, even when you haven't played "anobody", it's still indicative of a team that will win many, many games. Good luck with that defense, texas.
And Langhorns, stop squealing about the possibility of poaching Art Briles. Just stop. Ain't going to happen. He's on his way to becoming the new Grant Teaff. A legacy coach. One of the greats, if he keeps this up. He's 57 years old and will finish his career at Baylor, if he isn't tapped to be the next AD.
This coming from a '97 graduate who got to see the bears ALMOST be a good team between '93-'95, then suffer through 15 years of starting each season in a pit of dread. Always hopeful, never vindicated.
This is FUN.

This is fun. Oddly enough, I'm finding that Tech folks are the ones struggling the most with the media's mild recognition of Baylor's success. They're doing a lot of pointing at the Graham Harrell teams that put up huge numbers and then didn't do much in conference play.
The detractors aren't necessarily wrong about the strength of schedule, but when your starters are putting up 63 points per game and they're only playing one half + one drive, there's something there. And yes, the defense gave up 40 some odd points, but two of those touchdowns were defensive TDs for WVU and the rest of the points came in the second half when the Bears were already up huge and the backups were in.
Most impressive, though, are Petty's and Seastrunk's (and the rest of the team's, presumably) attitudes towards everything. Re: Petty:
"I always feel that Baylor is a but team, and I say that because people say Baylor is good but; Baylor scores points, but; Baylor beat this team but," quarterback Bryce Petty said. "That's good, because it puts a chip on our shoulder. ... We know we're the best."
Three years in a row now that Briles has had a guy in there who says the right thing at the right time every time. Really incredibly impressive. Even Seastrunk, whom one might expect to be the cockiest of motherfuckers, knows how to keep his mouth shut, stay humble, and stay hungry.
I'm nervous for this team to finally go on the road, especially in Manhattan, KS, but I think they've got way more guts than they're being given credit for.

Guts + talent + teamwork = Win
I mean, I never played much football, but that's the winning formula to everything from competitive chamber orchestra ensemble to the World Cup.

Really don't need to Grant Teaff comparison for Briles, though; I know you know what happened after Grant Teaff, you went to school through that shit.
My girlfriend's brother is a freshman there now, and I'm having a really hard time of educating him and his buddies about just how bad Baylor football used to be; they just grew up knowing that Baylor was irrelevant. As a fairly recent grad I got a heavy dose of completely atypical Baylor football competitiveness, but as the child and brother of older alumni, I grew up watching the shitshow that was the post-Teaff era. I don't need to be reminded that Kevin Steele or Guy Morris could be lurking around the corner.

The first couple of years Chuck Reedy was around weren't terrible. Made it to a bowl game at least!
Otherwise... Shudder.

And Jeff Ward, who's a former Longhorn and has the afternoon drive-time news show, is in manic, hardcore denial. he always says, when discussing the possibility, that TU cannot lose to a team like Baylor. Hilarious. Unless things just go catastrophically wrong, it's going to be a blood bath. Briles LOATHES Mack Brown, and traditionally Baylor loathes the Longhorns. I also grew up in a Razorbacks household (both of my parents were there 66-69), so my glee is doubled.

Cannot lose to a team like Baylor? You mean the team they've lost to twice in three years, and would have been absolutely steamrolled by last year's team had they played the Horns post-K-State? christ.

Denial. Not just a river the Longhorns could beat if Ash was healthy, just sayin'.
